Hurricane 03:56
1. Hurricane 3:54 The wind’s blowing in on the coastal plain The sky is clear but it smells like rain They say we ought to leave but I think I’ll stay A little storm never scared me away CHORUS Hold on there’s a hurricane coming Hold on tie everything down Hold on there’s a hurricane coming Maybe it’ll blow away this town Maybe it’ll blow away this town I first came here when I was just a kid I think I feel now like my daddy did It doesn’t matter what kind of trouble you’ve seen A good hurricane and the slate’s wiped clean CHORUS I didn’t mean to make such a mess of things I didn’t know the trouble that a careless heart could bring And they say that a memory will fade But now I’m lying in the bed we made CHORUS The wife and kids went to higher ground I had my reasons to stick around And sometimes you just have to choose What you’re willing to keep and what you’re willing to lose CHORUS The wind’s blowing in on the coastal plain The sky is clear but it smells like rain

2. If I Was a Sparrow 4:37 If I was a sparrow I’d fly back from where I came If I was a sparrow I’d fly back from where I came I wouldn’t care if it’s on a soft breeze Or the northbound side of a hurricane Once I knew a woman she loved me like the summer loves the sun Once I knew a woman she loved me like the summer loves the sun She promised she would be there As long as the stars still shine and the rivers run And if I was a sailor I’d search the seven seas If I was a sailor I guess I’d search the seven seas Hoping maybe someday I’d find her sailing back to me And sometimes when the storm is coming I hear her name on the wind Sometimes when the storm is coming I hear her name on the wind I wish I could say different But I have to say I’d do it all again A wise man once told me you won’t forget that woman’s touch A wise old man once told me you won’t forget that woman’s touch You can always tell a young man But I guess it’s true you just can’t tell him much And if I was a sparrow I’d fly back from where I came If I was a sparrow I’d fly back from where I came I wouldn’t care if it’s on a soft breeze Or the northbound side of a hurricane

3. Devil’s Highway 3:24 He put all of his possessions on a Greyhound bus Left his family in the small town dust Goodbye to his friends goodbye to his past Destination nowhere fast People saw him coming they’d get out of his way He was on that road called the Devil’s Highway He built his world on thrills and spills Cocaine alcohol and pills He thought he was invincible immortal too Not the kind of guy you could tell what to do Nobody thought he’d be alive today Once he took that turn down the Devil’s Highway CHORUS The Devil’s Highway is a downhill slide There ain’t no brakes there ain’t no guide Maybe tomorrow is a brand new day But tonight he’ll ride one more time Down the Devil’s Highway Now he lives alone and he’s down on his luck Life came at him like a semi truck He looks in the mirror doesn’t know the man With the Halloween eyes and the midnight tan Late at night you hear the hellhounds bay Sirens in the dark on the Devil’s Highway CHORUS He put all of his possessions on a Greyhound bus Left his family in that small town dust

Forgiveness 04:10
4. Forgiveness 4:08 You had a wish once and you wished it You had your chance and then you missed it But sometimes right out of the blue You’ll remember what was true then You loved somebody and they loved you Somebody loved you It’s hard to forget when you’ve been broken All those things you should have said will stay unspoken Watch the fireplace logs burn down into the night Those golden embers glowed like Christmas lights did You were young and the world was right And the world was right CHORUS Oh forgiveness Sometimes it’s the hardest thing to see Oh forgiveness It’s worth a fortune but it’s free Oh forgiveness . So thank your lucky stars when you awaken Maybe say a little prayer for what’s been taken The shortest distance to the end Sometimes is a road that winds and bends The strongest fence is one you mend And a heart can mend CHORUS

5. Katie’s Got a Locket 3:42 Katie wears a locket on a dime store chain She keeps close to her heart She has a picture of a boy inside They said that they would never part But that was so long ago How could they know CHORUS Katie’s got a locket Katie’s got a locket Katie’s got a locket Katie’s got a locket on a dime store chain Katie’s got a locket on a dime store chain When she used to kiss him her hair would hang down The locket swung across his chest She’d tell him made up stories about how they met He’d tell her that she was the best It was easy to do Sometimes it was true CHORUS Sometimes it makes her smile And sometimes it helps her cry CHORUS The seasons change the sun goes down Things ended for them like a summer day Late some nights they both lie dreaming Of the one that got away Maybe they’ll know in time Which one was left behind (but) CHORUS Katie’s got a locket on a dime store chain

6. Night Train from Milan 4:46 On the last night of the summer On the late train out of Milan I was hoping I could catch up with The one already gone ‘Cause out here on the other side Of God only knows where Maddalena said goodbye And she vanished On the night train On the night train CHORUS On the night train from Milan there’s no need to hide You bought the ticket you’ll take the ride St. Ambrose sent me on my way St. Jude will lead me home On the night train from Milan Everybody’s traveling alone On the night train On the night train I have the same dream every night That I’m riding on this train I can’t get to where I’m going I’m cursed to take this ride again It seems like I could find her But this night train moves too slow You can never catch tomorrow Yesterday’s too long ago On the night train The night train CHORUS And if you’re out here late some night And you’re riding on this train You might hear a ghostly presence Calling Maddalena’s name But you don’t need to be afraid If it’s my ghost you see I’m only praying at the next stop She’ll be waiting On the night train On the night train CHORUS On the last night of the summer On the late train out of Milan All aboard the night train

7. The Sound of Falling Snow 3:29 The night was quiet and You could have heard the second hand We knew that it was time to go In that little Midwest town We watched the sun go down But we only heard the sound of falling snow The sound of falling snow The sound of falling snow In that little Midwest town We watched the sun go down But we only heard the sound of falling snow The place we were staying in Wasn’t haunted but it could have been It seemed like our own ghosts ran through that space I heard the question on the wind Is this the start or is this the end And then I saw the answer in her face The sound of falling snow The sound of falling snow I heard the question on the wind Is this the start or is this the end And then we heard the sound of falling snow You’ve got a lot of time to spend Your heart won’t break if you let it bend As you fly the skies and drive the roads below Just remember everything you saw The things you heard that you recall Like the little towns and the sound of falling snow The sound of falling snow The sound of falling snow Remember everything you saw The things you heard that you recall Like the little towns and the sound of falling snow Like the little towns and the sound of falling snow

8. Little Speck of Dust 3:25 When the wind blew in it came across the bay Nearly everybody here packed up and moved away And in the sideways rain not a thing was dry The only peaceful place was inside the eye Is it a brand new start Is it a brand new day If your troubles were like this town they’d be washed away Here you are when all is said and done You’re just a little bitty speck of dust going ‘round the sun And when the wind died down what was left behind Was clothes in the trees and a muddy water line Nearly everything was taken back to ground There’s not much left but it’s all there is to this town Is it a brand new start Is it a brand new day If your blues were like this town they’d be washed away Here you are no matter what you’ve done You’re just a little bitty speck of dust going ‘round the sun So they say Everything that you hold dear will pass away And then the hard part starts for those who stick around Do you build the place back up or do you knock it down The choice is not as easy as it seems And things never turn out like they do in your dreams Is it a brand new start Is it a brand new day If your sins were like this town they’d be washed away Here you are when all is said and done You’re just a little bitty speck of dust going round the sun And here you are you’re not the only one You’re just a little bitty speck of dust going round the sun

9. Maybe Next Year 3:06 It’s late in December the mountains are painted in white The songs of the season are what everyone’s singing tonight The talk turns to walks in the sand Warm ocean breezes and tropical nights Every year we say maybe next year The eyes in the photograph are the only thing time hasn’t changed The young man in the overcoat’s gone and this old man remains He wonders how long can a lucky old fool Keep on winning this wonderful game Every year he says maybe next year CHORUS There’ll be one more dance in the moonlight One more kiss please You have secrets to whisper You can tell me We wish on a shooting star as it fires up the sky with its light It’s gone in an instant but we keep our eyes on the night We never wonder if wishes come true We keep wishing with all of our might And every year we say maybe next year CHORUS CHORUS
